She thought I was joking that I was going to put her on until I turned the camera toward her, lol.

No love from Mrs Red for the reining champs!
That's ok, we play better with a chip on our shoulder anyway :-)

SECOND HALF SHAKEDOWN

We are halfway through the season…always a good time to check in on the Blind Squirrels’ predictions and also to see whose route to the playoffs is looking more brutal as we head forwards.

Up in the Stars Conference, the picks were for Toronto, Rochester, Parlor City and Tallahassee to win their divisions. Two of those picks are looking pretty solid at the moment with the Talons already 5 games up in their division while the Americans are 3 up in theirs. We’ll have a better idea of where Parlor City sits after their Week 9 divisional showdown with Salem, although the two teams will meet again later in what could be an even higher-stakes game. Toronto is the only Stars division prediction currently not with at least a share of the lead. The Spartans trail Lyon by a game.

Wildcard picks were Bennington and Natchitoches. The Bulldogs are 5-3 and a game back, right on the number for a possible wildcard berth. Natchitoches is sitting at .500 presently, but is looking forward to one of the easiest second-half schedules in the EFL. Its opponents over the final eight weeks have thrown together just 23 victories thus far.

Down in the Stripes, the picks were Glendora, New Jersey, St. Louis and Charleston. And, well, two of those are looking good. The Dragons are 2 games up and have a tiebreak win over nearest trailer Perth in their division. The Geechee are a game up on Columbus City at present in their division. But the Crusaders, 4-3-1, are 3.5 in back of undefeated Coos Bay, definitely one of the early season's best stories thus far. St. Louis is 4 games back with a ton of work if it hopes to catch Canton and Milwaukee, or even be a consideration in wildcard speculation.

Speaking of, wildcard predictions in the Stripes were for Milwaukee and Perth. The Wild, at 6-2, are looking solid as they battle Canton for top honors. Perth, currently 5-3, is a game off the pace and, once again, faces one of the most brutal back-half schedules in the league. Wallabies fans will likely need at least one upset if they’re going to play beyond Week 16.

Here’s a look by division at how many combined victories each team’s remaining opponents collected in the front half of the season. It’s a pretty wide spread as the hardest schedules average out to about 2.5 wins per opponent more than the weakest remaining schedules.

Lyon 36.5, Toronto 37, Reno 29.5, Las Vegas 35.5
Rochester 28, Natchitoches 23, Hawaii 36, Maine 31
Parlor City 43, Salem 39, Bennington 38, Arkansas 35
Tallahassee 29.5, Wellsville 26.5, Boise 31.5, Atlantic City 23

Glendora 34, Perth 37, Brooklyn 30, Santa Fe 30
Coos Bay 30, New Jersey 30, Rancho Cucamonga 26, Tacoma 27.5
Canton 33.5, Milwaukee 30, St. Louis 30, Fort Drum 28
Charleston 39, Columbus City 34, Mt. Washington 37, San Diego 28

OUCH!!! Oh man, I started watching the weekly update and loved it as usual. I hope Red keeps those little YouTube highlights going for the league. They are fantastic!
And with the new addition of Mrs.Red , and her keen insights and intellect into the prognostications I give her mad props!

Unnttiiillll.....LOL.....she gets to the end of the show. At that point, I believe she may have started a small ruckus from the conference room at the Wild training facility! There are now grumblings in the Milwaukee media as to the Wild being a squad considered to be "smoke and mirrors " and akin to the "Wizard of Oz " behind the curtain.
Team management have gone dark with only a small statement or two from owner Cooter Brown. The lack of depth at crucial positions were acknowledged, along with overall youth in what largely was accepted as a "transitional "year. And with the rash of nagging injuries that seems to stick with this bunch. And with the next trio of games on the schedule, it would appear that Mrs.Red is onto a possible disastrous scenario, as those three opponents do have the Wild playoff hopes much akin to the gun barrel intros that come with every James Bond thriller! In the upcoming brutal stretch, it is unsure to determine if the home field of Wild faithful will be enuff to overcome the gauntlet over the next few contests.
Rumors abound that action movie star Clint Eastwood has privately been in contact with the team in an advisory role to provide inspiration for the looming "gunfights to the death " during this stretch. LOL.

On a final note, loved Mrs.Red joining the brodcast and hope she stays involved. And even hoping we somehow find a way to have her rethink her forecasts and maybe become a dream team of destiny here in the EFL once again.

Interesting items at the season’s midway point…

 Of the three QB’s currently on pace for 5,000+-yard passing seasons, two of them (David Puddy, Glendora, and Jonathan Embree, Salem) were selected in the third round of the draft. The other (James Herrin, Tallahassee) was a sixth-round grab. None were drafted by the team they’re now slinging the rock for.
 Four of the six QB’s who have thrown the most interceptions to date this season are former first-round selections.
 Nine players are currently on pace for 1,000 rushing yards (6 RB’s, 3 WR’s).
 Three players are currently on pace for 100 receptions (1 RB, 2 TE’s)
 Fifteen players are on pace for 1,000 receiving yards, including Charleston’s John Wilson who is already at 1,061 yards receiving. All but 2 players in this group are WR’s.
 Parlor City’s David Mitzel is on pace for 1,072 receiving yards despite having caught just 15 passes this season so far. Nine of those catches have gone for TD’s. And how on earth did that guy drop to pick 2.7 in the draft eight years ago?
 Charleston’s John Wilson is on pace for 3,000+ all-purpose yards this season.
 Tallahassee’s Francis Jimerson has 2 punt returns for TD’s this season. There’s only been one other so far (and in a stroke of irony, he’s godlike at catching and returning punts, but has just a 29 pass receiving rating…go figure).
 Every kicker in the league who has attempted one has missed at least one FG this season.
 St. Louis punter Donald Rose has stuck 62+% of his punts inside the opponent’s 20 thus far in the season.
 There are 28 players on pace for 100+ tackles. (6 SS, 3 CB, 1 SLB, 11 MLB, 7 WLB…not all of these may line up at the listed position or just the listed position)
 Six players are on pace for 10 sacks (4 LDE’s, 1 DT, 1 MLB). Ronald Aponte, the only player with more than 5 sacks, was a 5th round selection and defaults to a 58 score.
 Five players (4 CB’s, 1 MLB) are on pace for 10+ interceptions this season. Two of them play for the defending champion Talons.
 Fort Drum’s Hector Maly, a second-year LDE, has appeared in 830 plays this season, 32 more than the next-closest player, teammate Lee Oneal (SS). In all, the Hefty Buffalo defense has the four most-active players this season on roster. Reno’s Gerald Howard (MLB) is the first player from a different team, appearing in 724 plays. Toronto’s Thomas Kennedy (LT) has been the league’s most-used offensive player thus far, sitting t-13 with 678 play appearances.
 Atlantic City’s Michael Shull (FS) is the most penalized man in the league in terms of yardage, having cost his team 50 yards thus far. Fittingly enough because of their nickname, the Assassins are the most penalized team in the league this year.
 Tallahassee’s takeaway/giveaway margin for the year is currently a league-best +27. Second place (Milwaukee) is at +8.

Those TO numbers are.... wow!
I guess having both starting corners with 7 picks will do that for you.
Re. Jimerson, his kick catching is only 19/100 and he’s put ALOT of ***** on the turf when fielding kicks, but so far he’s been giving me great production when fielding kicks (where I put him since he was drafted as he was the understudy to Dunn and needed to find ways to get him on the field.
