D-Y-NASTY!!
Parlor City punctuated Elite Bowl 13 with an exclamation point, burying Glendora beneath an onslaught of 30 fourth-quarter points to wrap up their third consecutive championship with a 50-7 rout over the Dragons.
Edward Huff ran for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Leroy Rivera added 157 yards as the Phantoms raced for 319 yards on the ground and 580 overall yards in the contest.
William Frazier ran for a 5-yard score after Glendora ended the Phantoms’ first possession with an interception. After that, it was pretty much all Parlor City.
The Phantoms knotted the contest with a 12-yard TD pass from Tony Strait to Joseph Lee. They grabbed the lead for good on a 3-yard Huff run with just over 5 minutes to go in the half and were up 17-7 at intermission. The Phantoms added another field goal in the third quarter to go up 20-7. And then the avalanche started to rumble.
Strait hit Steve Phillips with a touchdown pass less than 3 minutes into the fourth quarter. He’d find Joseph Lee less than 2 minutes later, followed by a 6-yard Huff run and then a Strait-to-Jackie Schaffer 19-yard touchdown pass. That’s 27 points in less than 3 minutes. Manuel Williams added a 52-yard kick to the gut just before the 2-minute warning to wrap up the scoring.
Parlor City finishes the year 17-2. They have outscored the opposition 142-53 in their three title game appearances.
