I saw theh volatilities for this draft and said i'd rather not bet on someone growing when i can trade for a player who is already developed

In the early rounds yes, you want high potential, low volatility. The later in the draft you get, the more volatility you want, because if they stay the same, they're mediocre to average but if they boom, they may become solid starters to All Pro.

Of course there is bust possibility, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
