The Knights secured a narrow 9-7 victory against the Demons on the road in a Week 12 matchup that featured strong defensive performances from both teams. With the win, Reno's Knights fall to 8-4 overall and maintain the top spot in the division at 3-1, while the Demons dropped to 8-4 as well and remain second in the division at 4-2.
The game's scoring opened early when Demons kicker Demarcus Demarco connected on a 56-yard field goal at 11:24 in the first quarter, giving the home team a 3-0 lead. The Knights answered in the second quarter with a touchdown pass from quarterback Normand Billups to Isaac Bruce. Billups found Bruce for a 3-yard score on the first play of the quarter, leading to a 7-3 advantage after George Blanda’s successful extra point.
Demarco added two more field goals for the Demons, including a 39-yarder in the third quarter, pulling the home team back within one point at 6-7. Despite this, the Demons failed to capitalize on any red-zone opportunities and went without a touchdown.
Offensively, Reno's Billups completed 26 of 52 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown without throwing an interception. He also contributed 14 rushing yards and accounted for the Knights' lone rushing touchdown indirectly, as Isaac Bruce scored on a rushing play despite no rushing yards recorded for Bruce himself in the official stats.
The Demons relied heavily on Brian Montano to flip field position, punting 10 times for largely effective results, while Demarco's kicking was a bright spot, going 3-for-4 on field goals.
Defensively, the Knights forced four interceptions, including three of Billups' passes in the second half, stifling the Demons' efforts to mount a comeback. Lee Cosentino forced a fumble, contributing to Reno's defensive success. Demons quarterback completions totaled 17 on 27 attempts for 106 yards but no touchdowns, and the team struggled to sustain drives or convert on third downs.
The game's decisive moments came in the second half, as the Knights' defense limited the Demons’ offense to field goals only, and a crucial missed 50-yard field goal attempt by Demarco early in the fourth quarter sealed the low-scoring affair. Penalties were minimal, with the Knights committing only one for 15 yards and the Demons five for 27.
Head Coach Robert Robinson’s squad saw a dip in momentum after the loss this week but holds a strong division position. Meanwhile, Demons head coach Charles Avila’s team maintains a three-game winning streak but was unable to run the table against a resilient Knights defense. The matchup sets the stage for a tight divisional race down the stretch in the regular season.
