The Marauders fell 33-16 to the Knights Sunday at home in the Week 3 regular season matchup. Billings' record dropped to 1-2, while the Knights improved to a perfect 3-0.

Knights running back Adrian Petersen was the standout performer, rushing for 112 yards on 34 carries and scoring two early touchdowns in the first half. Petersen’s runs opened the game’s scoring at 2:08 in the first quarter and later extended the lead to 14-0 in the second quarter. Quarterback Robert Pointer contributed with a touchdown pass to tight end Floyd Helm late in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 21-3 at halftime.

Billings quarterback Norman Calhoun threw for 315 yards and one touchdown on 23 completions out of 44 attempts. Wide receiver Tim Brown was his primary target, hauling in 157 yards and the Marauders’ lone touchdown reception late in the third quarter. Calhoun however was intercepted twice, helping the Knights maintain control.

Early turnovers proved costly for Billings. An interception on the Marauders' first drive gave the Knights excellent field position, leading to the initial touchdown. The second quarter also saw a fumble lost on a short run by Marauders running back Tommy Bush, recovered by Knights’ Johnny Castellanos, who forced the fumble.

The Marauders struggled with consistency converting third downs, managing just 3 of 13. They also failed to convert any red zone visits into touchdowns, settling for three field goals by kicker Antonio Carson out of five attempts. Carson’s missed 53-yard attempt in the second quarter marked a missed opportunity to narrow the gap.

Knights kicker Stumpy Leftfoot was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals, including long attempts of 49, 46, and 53 yards. His accuracy added crucial points to a team that found red zone success in three of five attempts.

The Marauders’ defense recorded two interceptions, including one by safety Albert Hunt, but were otherwise unable to contain the Knights' ground game effectively. The Knights held a significant advantage with 235 rushing yards compared to 49 for Billings.

The Marauders face a mounting challenge to reverse their fortunes and gain traction in the division, currently positioned fourth with a 0-1 division record. Meanwhile, the undefeated Knights secured first place in the division with a 1-0 mark.

Billings Marauders head coach Alexander Dean will look to address the offensive turnovers and red zone inefficiency as the team prepares for its next matchup. The Marauders finished with 14 yards in penalties and two sacks on defense, showing room for improvement on both sides of the ball.

Despite the loss, Billings showcased flashes of offensive potential, especially through Calhoun and Brown’s passing connection. However, the Knights' balanced offense and opportunistic defense ultimately decided the game.
