The Burlington Bombers improved to 3-0 on the season with a 27-20 road victory over the Badgers on September 19. The win extends Coach William McClure's undefeated start this year and maintains the Bombers' position atop the division at 2-0.

Burlington opened the scoring early with a 32-yard field goal from Robert Johnson at 10:21 in the first quarter, setting the tone for a strong start. The Bombers then capitalized on a 12-yard touchdown reception by Donald Hass from quarterback Jose Hager, putting them ahead 10-0 after Johnson's extra point.

The Badgers responded in the second quarter with a pair of touchdowns from quarterback George Alm, who connected on passes to David Johnson and Richard Dillon. The second extra point attempt by Daniel Jones was missed, keeping the score at 13-10 in favor of Burlington going into halftime.

Turnovers played a role as Hager threw an interception to John Farrar late in the second quarter, but the Bombers' defense, which recorded two sacks and one interception, held firm. In the third quarter, Robert Johnson added a 37-yard field goal to tie the game at 13 apiece.

Burlington regained the lead minutes later as Hager found Stephen Brown for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Johnson's successful extra point made it 20-13. The Badgers answered early in the fourth quarter with a rushing touchdown by David Johnson, tying the game 20-20.

With under a minute left, the Bombers delivered the winning blow. Hager connected with Timothy Dudgeon on a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Johnson's extra point sealed the 27-20 victory.

Offensively, Hager completed 23 of 51 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns, despite one interception. Running back Edward Garrett contributed heavily on the ground and through the air, accumulating 95 rushing yards and 84 receiving yards. Donald Hass added 64 rushing yards and a touchdown reception.

The Badgers relied on Alm's 253 passing yards and two touchdowns, supported by Chase Brown's 43 rushing yards and 90 receiving yards. However, their offense was hindered by just one penalty for 15 yards and limited third-down conversions, converting only 4 of 13 attempts.

In comparison, the Bombers converted 7 of 17 third downs and visited the red zone four times, scoring touchdowns on two of those drives.

The victory strengthens Burlington's playoff position early in the season while the Badgers drop to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in divisional play, now facing a two-game losing streak. The Bombers next face division opponents aiming to maintain their unbeaten run.
