The Reno Knights defeated the San Diego Riptide 27-19 at Reno on October 26, 2064, in a Week 8 regular season matchup. With the win, the Knights improve to 7-2 overall and maintain their hold on first place in the division with a 3-1 record. Meanwhile, the Riptide fall to 6-3 and endure their first loss following a six-game winning streak.

Knights head coach Robert Robinson guided his team to an early advantage as quarterback Normand Billups connected on a 44-yard touchdown pass to Preston Chango in the first quarter. Billups followed up with a 1-yard touchdown completion to Drew Thibodeaux to close out the quarter, putting Reno ahead 14-0 with successful extra points by George Blanda.

Despite an early fumble by Reno’s Cha Ching that was recovered by San Diego’s Christopher Hahn, the Knights controlled the pace and limited big plays by the Riptide. San Diego's Charles Collins was intercepted early in the third quarter by Alvin Collinson, who returned the ball 30 yards for a touchdown, narrowing the score to 14-7.

The Knights relied heavily on their passing game, with Billups completing 37 of 58 attempts for 442 yards and three touchdowns. Preston Chango led the receiving attack with 147 yards and two rushing touchdowns while Cha Ching added 12 rushing yards and 120 receiving yards. Tight end Kellen Winslow contributed 96 receiving yards to the balanced aerial attack.

Reno’s defense pressured Collins frequently, registering three sacks and forcing one forced fumble. The Riptide defense countered with eight sacks and recorded two interceptions, including the pivotal third-quarter pick-six. San Diego's Travis Shaw posted 92 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown, but the Riptide offense struggled to sustain drives consistently.

The Knights’ kicking game was reliable as kicker George Blanda converted both field goal attempts and all extra points. With no third-down conversions recorded by either team, field position and special teams played a crucial role throughout the contest. Joseph Gagner contributed several lengthy punts to keep the Riptide offense on its heels.

Despite a strong effort from the Riptide, the Knights held their advantage through timely scoring and defensive stands. The victory marks Reno’s sixth consecutive win as they aim to solidify their playoff positioning. Head coach Robert Robinson’s squad now focuses on maintaining momentum in upcoming games to finish the regular season atop the division standings.
