Re: Need help

Ive delayed the Mid Week sim for one day to try and fix a mistake that happened with the Hefty Buffalo. QB Castillo and MLB Anderson should not be on the Waiver Wire list. Please do not make a waiver claim on those two players.

Here is a copy of the pm from Airborne
I traded captainkirk for that qb otis castillo and now he is on the waviers. And i lost the draft picks. I tried to make the team better but that is ****.

So please, lets see if we can get this fixed, it was a mistake in dealing with his salary cap and the AI stepped in and did its thing. If someone does claim Castillo or Anderson off waivers I would ask for a trade back to the Buffs.

What happened was a mistake and lack of experience dealing with salary cap problems or not knowing that was a problem, the Buffs need to cut $10 mill from their current roster to make room for Castillo's contract. It can be done fairly easily w/o reducing the teams competitive level.

If anyone has input or concerns about this, please post for discussion. In the meantime, Im going to look over the Buffs roster and suggest what cuts need to be made to meet the $10 mill amount. Anyone is more than welcome to do the same, lets see if we can help him out, makes for a better league IMO.

One move that will help free up sal cap on the Buffs is for someone to trade for DE Printz, who is now "Out" for 10 weeks, if you can put together an offer for 650-700 tade meter value, that will help a lot. I will be making an offer. The Buffs are not doing well, would not like to see them get worse. cheers

I put a claim on Anderson this morning before I read the post. If I get him I will make amends some how.

Ok, well I have waiver claims on both Anderson and Castillo. IN the best interest of the league and division rival, the Buffalo, I will withdraw the waiver claims. I understand how the confusion concerning the salary cap issues is always a hassle.

I don't ever wanna give the idea that as an owner, I attempt to "vulturize" talent that comes across on the waiver wire. However, I do try to take those possibilities of players becoming available in the way I try and structure any of my rosters or salary caps on teams. Especially in how salary terms affect in years into the future. And in scouring for talent that might be useful as a tool and helpful in the terms of a possible trade with another franchise. I don't know if that is being a vulture really or a cheesy rat owner, but is just kinda being shrewd in the "business " of the game. So, I dunno?

One other thing that I might toss in that might be helpful concerning salary caps and contracts. I never use the automatic renegotiation tool. It takes more time to go thru individual renegotiations on contracts, but way way worth it. I know I am a tightwad with doing the barest of minimums on yearly salaries and bonus monies, but it keeps you outta cap **** and helps in your free agency efforts in the long term. If any of ya'll ever have any questions or thoughts, always feel free to ask on help.

Just took a gander on the Castillo issue and have a thought. (Not sure how much money it would save or the numbers). But, since he was traded in week 7 from Sante Fe, and his bonus money is zero (that affects the Bandits cap), could the 7.5 Million salary money be renegoiated? I know it being in week 7 and half the season already gone makes that about 3.25 already spent. But he is a 9 year vet,so has maybe another 4-5 years of playable service as a QB. Stretch a lower salary (but with more bonus money over a 4-5 term) and it might reduce the salary cap hit some. Don't know how much in terms of numbers wise,if really any, but with this being a younger league, his contracts demands should be negotiable below 7.5 Mil a year. (Maybe?) And don't think it would do any 10 million. But is a start in not just "gutting" a team. And might help keep Anderson as well since he is really young. Then maybe whittle of some really aging vets.? I dunno, just offering suggestions if we are going to wind the league back to before the waiver cuts. If Castillo is already gonna be waivered, he won't resign to Fort Drum anyway, correct? ( he will be livid with Airborne)?

dont think Castillo & Anderson will be livid, due to the cut being done automatically by the AI, will see how that is. Airborne is making recommended cuts and replacement with minimum salary/bonus FAs which will free up several million immediately along with a lot more for next season. Ive made the trade on temporary basis for DE Printz who is out for the season anyway, that combined with the cuts should make enough room for Castillo & Anderson, and that was a good idea to see if the contract for Castillo can be redone right away.

Interesting, don't know about AI cuts and how they effect player opinions. From my own personal experiences in cutting player personel , the player cut usually stays livid, then unhappy, for so many seasons, I never am able to resign them. Either they retire or become so degraded in skills in veteran years, they have no value on the roster. Players who were happy and their contracts just ran out and expired ,I have been able to reaquire, either back thru free agency or waiver wire. But don't recall "cuts" coming back home.

Am sure that is the case and the difference when a player is released by the AI manager either due to not re-signing the player by end of season (you can resign them back out of free agency) or when the AI releases them to get the salary cap back in the plus, which is what happened with the Buffs.

And I am proud of the league and the owners who have already posted in this thread or pm'd me. The response has been unanimous so far to help out Airborne and the Buffs to correct the mistake. That is the kind of league I really enjoy being a part of, good sportsmanship fellas! thanks to all.

Just hope Airborne gets his guys back. And we all learned about another wrinkle to this game . I had never considered this exact situation before!
