From a league member -- "I figured that it would be corrected by now but it hasnt, its still there, not quite as strong, but still there. I noticed in one of the leagues that they instituted a rule that does not allow for DBs, RBs or WRs (high speed) to be put in the DL on special teams. Im all for that as I dont think anyone should lose because they get two or more punts blocked. In RL, they put speed on the outside DL to both block punts and FG/Xp's. But the % we get from doing that on punts in MFN is way too high. So, Im all for it if we get agreement by majority in the Elite." SHOULD THE EFL ADOPT THIS AS A RULE UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE EXPLOIT IS FIXED? (will implement if a majority approve)
Since it is a concern here, and the debate was respectful ... I will also abstain from using DBs or WRs at the end positions on punts. I will limit my use of WRs at the other return team line positions to those that can contribute to downfield punt return blocking.
Since the rule didn't pass ... If I get punt blocked, it means I don't have the right people in place to stop it ... and that's on me.
Already looks like a shutout. The ones who use this will obviously not vote, so it leaves how many undecided?
False. I use a CB as a DE on punt blocks (although it is not exactly to use the exploit, he has a high pass rush). And I still voted yes for the rule proposal.
Don't know what your talking about, obviously had nothing to do with what I was referring to at the time...so?
You stated that the people that use the punt block "exploit" would not vote for the rule proposal. I was correcting you, because I did use a CB as a DE in puny block, AND I voted for the proposal. So just wanted to make sure you weren't using faulty information to try to get a decision out of the admin.
Ok, I moved any DBs, WRs, RBs aka "speed" guys out of the punt block Defensive line per the Gentleman Agreement.
However, and some of you more seasoned vets that play in the beta leagues may better answer this; is there still a possibility of a punt being blocked with the right combo of LBs or DEs with the right speed, acceleration, pass rush, strength, etc? Or is it just a fart in the wind as far as ever blocking any punt? And, for the record, has anyone ever seen a ExPt. or FG attempt get blocked? ( doesn't that seem like a quirky exploit since kicks can and do get blocked on occassions) I have never seen one blocked. The rush may affect the length or direction of a kick. But never seen one "blocked"

I’ve had a FG blocked maybe twice in 4 years? The kicker had a REALLY slow timing and the block got whiffed. Looked like the holder was tackled in the sim.
Thanks Garrok. At least it can and does really happen!

I've seen the same. Never a ball getting blocked. Always the holder getting tackled.

I had two punts blocked by a WLB with 79 speed, 94 acceleration, 100 pass rush, and a lot of ST experience. He came from RT (shortest distance.). My punter's timing was only 70ish at the time.
I was one of the first, if not the first to discover this "exploit" and there is already one league that has banned it, and Ive been hit with some harsh criticism for using it.
My first experience of the punt block was losing to you in my first LC ... so the haters can blame you for me being me, as well. :)

Everything is better when we can just blame Grandpa. ;)
Oh...I am the only one that voted no, but I have also never managed my punt block team much, not had that many punts blocked so.......... yea onward we go.
