The Knights fell to the Badgers 17-9 in their 2064 Wild Card playoff game at home on December 28. This loss ends the Knights’ playoff run under head coach Robert Robinson.
The Badgers took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Bobbie Travis scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful extra point by Daniel Jones. The Knights struggled to generate offense early, with a key fumble by Thomas Mickle recovered by the Badgers.
Reno responded in the second quarter with three field goals from kicker George Blanda, one from 37 yards and another from 50 yards, narrowing the deficit to 14-6. However, the Badgers extended their lead with a touchdown pass from George Alm to Lenny Lightfoot, who finished with a rushing touchdown and added 30 receiving yards, bringing the score to 14-3, later 14-6 after Blanda’s field goal.
The Knights offense was limited to 143 total passing yards on 25 completions out of 46 attempts, with no touchdowns through the air. On the ground, the team gained 120 yards on 22 carries but failed to convert any red zone opportunities into touchdowns. They did not attempt any third-down conversions.
The Badgers’ offense was paced by quarterback George Alm, who completed 19 of 33 passes for 289 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Oliver Stephens led all receiving yards with 181 yards. Lenny Lightfoot contributed on both the ground and through the air and scored the Badgers’ lone rushing touchdown. The Badgers’ defense sacked the Knights six times and forced a fumble, complementing the strong offensive showing.
Special teams saw several long punts from Joseph Gagner of the Knights, helping to manage field position, but the Knights were only able to secure field goals rather than touchdowns.
Despite a disciplined Knights defense that limited Badgers touchdowns to just two, the lack of offensive production proved decisive. Reno also incurred four penalties for 25 yards, while the Badgers committed 12 penalties for 87 yards.
Badgers’ kicker Daniel Jones added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter to seal the game 17-9. The Knights were unable to mount a scoring drive in the second half.
Kosmic28, the Knights' owner, remarked after the game, "We fought hard, and Blanda’s three field goals kept us in it, but turnovers and our inability to finish drives hurt us. Alm and Stephens made the difference today."
