Let other's know

Put the word out to other owners in your other leagues, especially for those who are new or still trying to figure the game out or are struggling to get their teams competitive and into the playoffs. I offer a full roster review including suggested cuts & adds, and tips/advice on scouting, gameplanning, rules, and misc settings to any new owner, which is why Wolfkill and Nadex joined us recently. So, there's a benefit that no other league admin is offering to new owners. Lets see if we can make the Elite more enjoyable and one of the top 5 leagues in the game. cheers, gdb

I thought our league was the top one.

Many are reluctant to take over a team that has been mis-managed by the Ai, the salary cap is always either exceeded, especially right after the draft or is very small, less than 2 mill open. The Reno Maurauders along with probly all the other 5 open teams are examples of that. So, the other problem is that those teams lose good players to FA when the Ai makes the cuts to get back under the cap. So, if you're going to be competitive with any of the 6 open teams faster than a 3 season turn-around, there are some things you can do to overcome the problem, the first being the cutting of sub 70 players that are being paid 3 mill or more per season to free up sal cap space. Its still a daunting task for most, and something that has to be addressed to attract new owners. And there are those who prefer a new team/league and draft. Makes it difficult to fill out an older league with several open teams.

i dont think that has anything to do with it ......If anything i think either (1) People want to acclaim instance success where they look like the smartest person on the site or (2) people dont want that team on their history on the site because if it drags down their winning percentage or what not then it would make them look like a NOT a good owner or great owner.

One way to solve this issue is
(1) show those people that people have the greatest success when they have been with a team for awhile.

(2) Just because you took a team like that doesnt make you a bad owner it actually makes you look much better as owner that you are willingly and able to take on challenges that may mean you will appreciate that TITLE or what not that won MORE so over a team that was easy to win with and what not

What you might speak of might be true, Punisher, if the Coach was a Teen/Millennium (instant success/gratification). I have taking over a good few teams below .500, with minimal draft picks (but with some advice) and put them on the right path.

What I will NOT do, and I know your post is not about me in general, is to take over a team that is Cap flawed by the design of the game (Renegotiation Wizard)....if others want to go down that path, then that is for them. If Coaches continue to do that, they are guilty in buying into the flaws of the non-playing/gameplan aspects. In essence, you are advocating a "challenge" to right a wrong in the Roster management of flaws of the game.

It's not like this has not been pointed out to JDB before!

And thus, enabling the issues of Salary Cap mis-management by the AI.

Some new players like myself love the challenge of taking on the worst team in the league, like I did with the Phantoms last season. Perhaps it is rare or I got lucky, but turning them around in one season and creating a real playoff threat is the snap of the apple. This is why we play the game. Grandpa did you fudge the numbers a season ago for me? If they did or did not.....does not matter....they did or did not because...... that is why we play the game!

Well....that is a phrase I learned from my career on the field for real, but it counts also for this simulation. The reason why all of us are here is because overall it does represent reality. Of course it's not perfect, but neither is the universe. I am also an Earth & Space Sciences teacher. Numbers crunching in a simulation in fact is simulating our universe in a real way. I mean all we see is round circle objects gravitating towards wherever the ball goes........ but we are all here because our mind ignores that and fills it in with lavish rich detailed moments in time where sand particles from the turf fly up from under the cleats of every stride. That pass caught in the corner of the endzone wasn't really just a blue outter highlight ring, naw he stretched both arms up, snagged the ball out of the air and tapped both feet in before he fell out of bounce. Let's not ignore the perfect coverage by the CB, but this is why we play the game

Much akin to what others have expressed, is one of the truest things I enjoy about this game is the overwhelming task of taking a team that is totally downtrodden and going thru the building process towards them becoming a contender. Pretty much every team I have been an owner in any league has been a cellar dweller when I began, including the Wild here in the EFL. And although I don't feel I am any "elite" owner, because some of you fellow GMs can deal my squads a pretty good **** whupping at times, raising a team from the dregs is a lot of fun from my perspective. But, I do see how the misunderstanding of contracts and salary cap maneuvering can be devastating to a beginners squad. I think the thing that saves me is that I am a total tightass when it comes to contracts and salary money , even if it is just a football simulation game!
