Not really a "controversy", thought it was a catchy title, lol.
During the draft, the subject came up about QB ratings and when was best time to draft the QB, and how things had changed as far as pass accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in the 4.1 game version. A few of the things that Ive noticed with 4.1 so far is that the Oline is giving up fewer sacks, so the need for speed/scramble for a QB has been reduced substantially, Hot Reads can kill.....good to have more QB intell now, QB runs/scramble have been dramatically reduced, and a few other "noticeables". This is my 3rd allocation draft, I draft my QB late, unless something happens and the AI steps in accidentally and I dont have players left on manual, like what happened to me in this league's draft, lol.
But..... as far as QB performance and consistency being improved, I have a pretty good example of that not being the case. Below is a link to my team stat page for last season in L14, you can see the stats for yourself comparing my alternating QBs. One QB is "top of the class" ito ratings, Williams with an AI default value of 94. My QB2, Stein, has an AI default value of 70, with a couple of good passing attributes (100 accuracy). Their stat lines are very comparable, both throwing for 3000 yards. But Stein has the higher QB stat rating for the season, 109 to 92, a difference of 17 pts. What makes this a good example and comparison is that the two QBs are on the same team, and basically alternated. Have a look if your interested and would like to hear your opinions about it. Another good way to check how attributes & ratings compare is to look at your other leagues and their results, see if you have a mix of ratings for QBs that finished in the top 20 for rating with a minimum # of passing attempts based on starters. cheers, gdadb
