Im one of those who like to check out the player and team stats to see if anything stands out to me, also what teams improved the most and vice-versa. Please post anything you consider to be worth mentioning in that regard, congrats to the teams that made the playoffs, should be another good post season for the EFL. Also need to recruit new owners, the league is losing owners as its very difficult to compete with the top tier teams who are in the playoffs and LC every season, the league is getting boring and un-challenging for several, including myself. Not much can be done about it other than getting one or two new teams/owners into the hunt, which has happened this season.
Best of the improving teams that made the playoffs or almost.... falconfan's Bad Rabbits/Tenn picked up a couple of more wins this season and won the Walsh division with 11 wins follwed by the Burn who had 10, seth has the Burn continuously improving. jlyman's Islanders landed a WC spot with 11 wins, a very big 5 game improvement from a previous 6 wins! bronco's Spartans improved from 7 wins to 10 to almost get them a WC, an outstanding job of rebuilding a bad roster over two seasons, considering the Spartans only won 3 games total in their first 4 seasons.
Beef's Wallabies, who went from zero wins (2019) to 10 wins and a wild card in 2020, think that is the record differential in the league so far, had an 11 win season (4 more than the 7 wins last season) and picked up a WC spot, well done Beef!
Grey's Riptide won the Gibbs for the first time with an 11-5 record, ending ray's Geechee streak at 5 div crowns. The Geech didnt go easy, only 1 game behind. Only a 1/2 game separated mwd's Cobras and greg's Crusaders, both had 12 wins with the Cobras winning the Landry div crown.
OK, lets see what some of the interesting stats are from this season.....
QBR... only 3 starters finished with a 100+ QBR this season, 1. Englehart/Phantoms/108.49 2. HOFer Greene/Witches/106.76, and 3. Alexander/Snappers/103.04. Then there were 9 starters with a QBR of 90+. The previous season, 2022, we had 7 QBs with 100+ ratings, and 7 over 90. Could be that pass defense gameplanning & play selection improved this season?
The top two RBs were both WR position to keep the weight off and gain speed, and it paid off. Wiley/Witches and Casey/Event, both had 5 yd avg and 7 TDs, and 1700 & 1600 yd outstanding seasons.
We had 43 receivers with over 900 yds gained. In version 4.3, the TE has increased in importance, equal to WR1s! That can be seen from how many TEs finished in the top 40, which was 8. In 4.2, there would normally be maybe 1 or 2 TEs in the top 40, if any and none in the top 10. There are two TEs in the top four! At #3 is Flores/Phantoms and at #4 is Harper/Witches (man, the Witches are at the top in all the offensive position stats!) Harper had a very impressive 25.6 av per catch and a 63% catch. That average was second to RB Hayden/Talons who had a 26.8 avpc. Dont know what position Hayden was at when thrown to the most, but would assume he was at the WR1 thru 3 spots, as he 6th in yardage and tied for first in TDs with 17, the other two with 17 TDs were Harper and Pfaff/Wild. What an outstanding season for TE Harper overall. Make sure you have a good TE for next season. Look at the atts for the TEs that are in the top 40 to see what is working the best.
Top sackman was DE Andrews/Hawaii with 23, which was the same as the top amount for the previous season. For the top 40 sackers, the mean was around 10 sacks. All but two of the top 40 were DE's. The days of DTs and LBs having a fair share of sacks have gone with 4.3. Top 30 were all DEs, and in the next ten, CB Lanes/Geechee and SLB Perry/Thunder, both had 7 sacks.
The All Pro Secondary .....
CB1 ..... Chad "Kubla" Khan, Tenn, 118 TA's, 16 KDs, 38.1 % CA, 11 picks (most) .. default 87, trade value 588, 8 yr vet.
CB2 ..... Ray Harris, Riptide, 104 TA, 18 KDs, 29.8 CA %(outstanding!), 7 picks ... default 84, trade value 560, 7 yr vet.
CB3 ... Sam Laird, Dragons, 94 TA, 15 KDs, 30.9 CA % (2nd best by 1 %), 8 picks ... default 89, trade value 1125, 6 yr vet.
SS .... William Ogden, Geechee, 102 TA, 17 KDs, 38.2 CA %, 4 picks ... default 87, trade value 920, 5 yr vet (listed at both CB2 & SS2)
FS ... James Finn, Wild, 70 TA, 6 KDs, 32.9 CA %, 3 picks, ...
default 70, trade value 38, 12 yr vet now there's an interesting stat line & performance vs player rating and atts!! Finn is what is known as a "gem".... a player that you can usually find in the FA pool as far as his key attributes and player rating go.
I find the secondary stats the most interesting when comparing results to player ratings, key atts, and trade values. You can learn a lot from looking at those results, look at all the DBs with 4 picks, that was about the average amount for the top 120 DBs.
