Mid Season Review

Standings

Not much has changed in the EFL from last season. In the Stars Conference, the Witches, Event, Talons, and Wampas lead their respective divisions, as they have done in previous seasons. Two teams have improved significantly from last season and are challenging their division leaders.. trslick's Bulldogs are 7-1 and have a big test coming up vs the RC Cobras. falconfan's Tennessee team is also 7-1 and playing good defense, tied with the Talons in their division. Expect the Burn to be a much tougher opponent with setherick at the helm.

In the Stripes Conference, it's also the "usual suspects". The Dragons, Cobras, Wild, and Geechees are leading their respective divisions. Teams that have improved this season from last so far are Gridiron's Red Rocks at 4-3-1 (6-10 last season) and the Wallabies are showing that last season was not a fluke, Beef turned them around big time after going 0-16 in the 2019 season.

Outstanding Player Performance and Production

Looking at the stats to date for the season , these are the players who standout.......

OFFENSE

QB... Peter Greene, Witches, 119.57 rating leads all starting QBs. 30 TDs - 9 picks. Next best with over 200 attempts is Larry Thompson of the Event with a 105 rating.

RB... Allan Morrow, Red Rocks, 74 carries for 611 yds, 5 TDs and league best 8.3 avg, and is the RB2! Charles Casey of the Event leads in yardage with 883 and a solid 4.8 avg.

WR.. T Obrien from the Event leads with 62 catches for 1267 yds and 10 TDs. Jimmy Rumley (AI rating of 99) from the Hefty Buffalo is right behind Obrien with 48 catches for 1161 and 8 TDs. Kasey Peoples from Tennessee is 3rd with 49 catches for 920 yds and 7 TDs. All 3 of these WRs are AI rated over 90. The WR position is one where the higher ratings make more of a difference in general.

TE.. James Manning on the Wild, 31 catches for 501 yds (16.2 avg!) and 5 TDs. AI rating of 91.

OL ... Guard, Thomas Kirkpatrick of the Riptide, 511 pass blocks and 1 sack allowed.
Center Brian Jones from the Stampede, 485 pass blocks - 1 sack allwd.
Right Tackle Greg Hatfield on the Islanders, 435 pass blocks - 2 sacks allwd.

DEFENSE

Leading Tackler is MLB Earnest Young of the Hefty Buffs with 65, followed by CB Chun on Portland with 60.

Leading Sacker is RDE "Jesse" James Jeffries on the Tennessee team, with 14 & 33 hurries. He is followed by DT Alex Moore, Coyotes, with 13 and 30 hurries and RDE Leland Baskin on the Marauders also with 13 sacks and 28 hurries. The leader in "hurries" is RDE John Gomez on the Geechee with 61. Next is MLB Brandon Rich of the Burn with 59, he also has 12 sacks which is outstanding for a MLB. The 7 yr vet has an AI rating is 78.

Leading DB .... the interception lead is tied at 7, Keven Gaitan on the Witches and Lucas Wood on the Crush. They are followed by Alexis Fitzgerald of the Cobras with 6.

Best defender ITO catch allowed % with more than 80 Thrown Ats is 2 yr vet, CB1 Brian Smith of the Crush with 37% and 3 ints. He is followed by Samuel Laird on the Bandits with 39%.

Those are the standouts from a brief glance at the stats, if you feel that any other players or any "over-achievers" with a low AI rating should be mentioned, please feel free to add, its always interesting to see how players perform relative to their attributes and ratings. cheers!

Just wanted to recognize a couple of my guys who have played quite well despite "lower" ratings. Lower is a relative term.

CB Milton Ashley (AI Rated: 68/69) has had to put the defensive backfield leadership on his shoulders despite not being "elite." The 9 year vet, acquired from the Talons, has stepped it up this season, overcoming a couple of injuries already. He's recorded 39 tackles, 10 pass defenses and 3 INTs with a solid 38.9% catches allowed. He's older and not among the top CBs, but he has certainly pulled his weight this season.

MLB Mark Huson (AI Rated: 80/80) has split time between the linebacker core and the secondary. He's a true all around player and has proved his value by racking up 20 tackles, 1 sack and 2 hurries. As well as 3 pass defenses with a respectable 60% catches allowed stat. This was all while playing through the pain of injury.

I have a few other team members who have played quite well against some stiff competition. The league here is challenging and our goal is to improve at least a win a season. So far we've been able to do that, but it gets more difficult each season. That speaks to the quality of teams and owners here.

My team was just eliminated but my 57 rated RB is having a nice season. He had 285 combined yards in our most recent game.
