Was an excellent match-up and final, fitting for the EFL which has turned into one of the best leagues in MFN. The Event drew first blood on a 15 yd TD pass from Blackman to Larsen. Then the Cobras came right back and scored on a 29 yd pass from Bernard to Saltzman. Then both teams exchanged FGs to end the quarter 10-9 as the Cobras had missed the XP.

The Cobras took control and dominated the 2nd Qtr, scoring 10 unanswered points to take the lead 19-10 at the half. In the 3rd qtr, both teams defense held up strong, with the Event getting a FG to cut the lead, 19-13. The game came down to the 4th qtr, with a 6 point differential. The Cobras got a FG at the 12 min mark, to increase their lead back to 9 pts. Then the Cobras scored a TD on a 15 yd pass from Bernard to Eugene with just under 2 min to go, and missed another XP! Their lead went up to 15. Just when the Cobras thought they might be able to "relax" a bit with a comfy lead and less than 2 min to go, the Maine Event showed that they had no quit in them, as they scored a TD right away on a 73 TD pass from Blackman to Dogget. Then they got the 2 pt conversion to put them within 7 with 1:46 to go! Onside kick time! and it's the kind of play where you cant quite see who got it! you have to look at the play result to be sure, lol. https://theefl.myfootballnow.com/watch/633#113951

Maine still didnt quit, they had two timeouts left, and they got the 3 & out. The Cobras completed a 3rd down pass for a few yards that was crucial in eating more time off the clock, but Maine got the ball back after the punt and touchback with 46 seconds left. On second down they almost pulled off a miracle, Blackman hit WR1 Obrien who was wide open on a short post after leaving CB1 Bain standing still, Bain had a foot injury to be fair, and the race was on between Obrien, who has 95 speed, and SS Allen who has 64 speed and had a good angle. Allen made the crucial tackle but Obrien had racked up almost 60 yards, and the Event now had a decent chance to tie from near the RC Cobras 20 yd line. Obrien again caught a pass on a slant to the middle, this time for 7 yds and Bain was right on him, making the tackle right away on the 14 yd line.
Then one of the most controversial calls in league history took place, in the same league as the Seahawk's infamous Super Bowl call on the 1 yd line. For unknown reasons, with no timeouts and 13 seconds left on the clock, enough time for at least two passes to the end zone after 2 straight completes by Blackman to Obrien, the Event went with a HB Toss Strong run play, which got stuffed by the Cobras and ran out the clock. Owner Eyeball's eyeballs mustve popped wide open on that one! and maybe a big "Nooooooooo!" was uttered? Tough way to lose your chance to tie, but may be a good example of why you want to be sure a rule or setting does not kill your chance to win, especially in last 2 min of a game. I think I will add a rule, just to try and prevent something like that happening to yours truly! lol So, that ends the 2018 season in exciting and controversial fashion, the EFL is getting more competitive and will be very contentious in the 2019 season. Should be a good one! cheers all, gdb

Yeah, that was a KILLER to watch... I did say 'NOOOOO', along with a bunch of words that I'm probably not allowed to say here.. I haven't set up anything to micro-manage the final minute, but I'm going to have to try some sort of a rule set-up, the matrix can't be trusted in the final minute... And nice write-up! Thanks....
