Nice move Kabob, very good TE. Was the 1.9 pick in last draft. I was looking at him also.

TY GDB - was very happy with the trade, even tho I did not instigate it. Both teams have benefit from it imo.

So, now that the season is about over, and the LC game is coming up. How do you rate this trade for both teams?

QB Scott, traded to the Head Hunters, 70 rating, #16 for QBR, puts him in the bottom 10 of starting QBs, (he's never had a season above 77 and now will be going into his 10th season. His performance is based on his team and his manager/coach play selection, not on his rating.

TE Canty, traded to the Talons (now in the LC game) ..... 100 receptions, 67% catch, 4 TDs, 823 yds (5th highest). Canty is in his 2nd season.

Classtime for the league, we have several newer or less experienced managers, this is a good trade to learn from. What do you rank as a higher value? A QB with 70 QBR performance vs a TE that is in the top 10 for receiving? Add a 3rd and 4th round pick in addition to Canty.

It is not a good idea to expect a QB with higher ratings, especially the horrible default value rating and trade meter amount, to improve your offense and passing game. The QB needs very good receivers (like Canty), a good pass protecting OL, and good play selection and use. TEs like Canty are very hard to come by, QBs like Scott are common, and you can get the same performance out of a wide range of attributes and ratings, look at the top 10 QBs by QBR in the league player stats to see what Im talking about. Feel free to disagree, agree, or debate, this is a "learning" trade that will hopefully improve the competitive level in the league. If Im wrong about it, I'd like to know. The sad final note is that the same QB performance could have been the same with either the existing QB or one from the FA pool at minimum salary & bonus, and the Heads finished 2-14, with the owner dropping the team. Nice

Trades like this happen mostly due to a lack of knowledge about position importance and player ratings. Never jump into a trade without considering the whole picture, especially for a very high rated DB, LB, WR/TE .... those are the highest priority positions on your roster, the ones that are most difficult to get high rated players. MFN is not like RL NFL when it comes to the QB impact.

former team owner/manager of the Head Hunters.....
