Player weighting question

By jhartshorn

I have made some adjustments, but am a little confused eg with my DT Elder. He has good pass rush and rush defence (things which I have rated high for DEs) but average strength (something I have rated high for DT). So he has ideal stats for DE in my opinion (high PR and RD, lower STR)....but on his card it shows he has better overalls for DT!! How does that work when all other skills aren't equivalent on the sliders (only diff is PR/RD / STR).

I still don't totally like my player weights so in cases like this, play him wherever you want him and ignore the ratings fluff. I have quite a few lesser rated players that start over "better" ones.

The players weight in pounds counts towards the overall . Player weights goes by ratios so 100 strength and 100 speed acceleration is a 1:1 ratio.... same as a setting like 20 and 20 . With players weight accounting for 10 or something ( this number is static, Invisible and cannot be changed). Having 100s every where makes size account for less when displaying overalls through out positions .

Elder is getting some points due to his weight and pounds(at DT) and the ratios for ratings your using are not that different .... at least when using ratios. . 1 to 2 ratios are big spans in defaults but only a few points of overall can change with these ratios.

Size matters more for speed than strength so my weights reflect that in ratios. My weights are no better than anyone’s but speed is s between 3 , 6 , to 10 times stronger than any other skill rating. To do rating like this you can’t use high numbers and coincidentally by using low numbers the weight in pounds for that position matters more towards a overall.

Like I said it’s not better but it does show larger differences in overall because a players weight in pounds. As if that number for a players weight is 10 and all my other ratings add up to 100...... Making it a 1:10 ratio. Have 1000 total points (100s everywhere)weighted to a position and that ratio is 1:100. Considerably weaker making for less of a change for the overall.

For example, My one Pass rush DE has 3 run defense and 14 pass rush. That’s a 1:4 ratio and will grade pass rushers highly . With 40 something speed that ratio to pass rush is still 3x higher pulling out fast pass rushers . With a total of 100 points used the ideal weight for that position matters more. A guy 50 to 70 pounds away from the ideal weight will have his overall trend 10 points as his weight trends. Defaults are like a 5 point change

I don't believe a player's physical weight has any impact on their rating that is displayed on the card.

Two players with identical skill ratings and different weights will still show the same overall rating on their card.

DT 71 71
RDE 64 68

Same player weights but the ideal weight (in pounds) for a DE is 276. This 300 pounder takes a 3 point hit on overall at DE because of his weight . I have speed at 46 and a total of points below 100 . It will make overall change more visually between the positions.

It’s like the AI putting a Wr at LG in a preseason game with the starters pulled. No one is in the depth chart so it searches for the higher overall. The Wr has 99 strength and 99 RUn block so he gets nod.

On my team with my weights it will go for a TE or FB first.....no matter the ratings (more or less) or player weights. I get guys who lose or gain 75 pounds and will go up at least 7 points in overall as their weight trends.

But yes defaults might not show any change for this player as DE .....DTs are only 25 pounds different

Physical weight definitely has an impact on overall rating: https://champions.myfootballnow.com/community/3/4277?page=1#27278

When something like this happens to me, it's usually one high score in one attribute that is causing the player to look better at a position. But he also could just be better at that position in your weights.

I'm so confused..
I'd be pretty good if I learned, but I won't mess with them because I don't want to screw my Teams up even more, lol

and overrides.
Sigh.
No idea why I have to keep chirping about the right player in the right place at the right time.
We have 46 active players. Use all of them :)
